President of the Republic of South Sudan HE: Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit has this evening issued a Decree sacking Hon. Beatrice Khamisa Wani as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation replacing her with Hon. Ayik Mayik Deng.
It remains unclear what prompted the abrupt removal of the Honourable Minister who in the last few days presented a statement which was released on the state run South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) last evening terming what happened in Guinea as unconstitutional and she called for the release of President Alpha Conde and the restoration of Guinea’s constitution which has since been suspended by the military.
“The Republic of South Sudan joins the African Union, the United Nations, ECOWAS and other Africa member states to condemn in the strongest terms possible this unconstitutional takeover in Guinea, Conakry which is contrary to the AU constitute Act that advocates for constitutional change of government through elections,” Beatrice Khamisa said
“The Republic of South Sudan therefore, calls for the immediate release of President Alpha Conde as well as the immediate restoration of constitutional rule and order,” she added.
