Two suspected armed robbers and four others have been arrested for their alleged involvement in some robberies and murder cases along the Kintampo-Buipe-Tamale highway.
The suspects, Hamidu Umaru and Haadu were killed after some gun exchanges with the Police Intelligence and Operational teams. The detained suspects are Saaju Bukari, Bertor Saabi, Ali Amadu, and Isaad Seidu.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Acting Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, ACP Kwesi Ofori on Sunday, 29th August, 202.
“The Intelligence-led operations by the Special Anti-Robbery Task Force led to the retrieval of 2 locally manufactured pistols and live cartridges, machetes, bayonets, pepper spray cans, and stun guns. Some suspected stolen items were retrieved and they include mobile phones and motorbikes.”
The Statement said.
According to the Ghana Police, the suspects have been involved in several robberies and crimes including the murder of an International Journalist Sayed Tarly Ahmed with Muslim TV (MTA International) who was in the country filling a documentary on Peace and Security.
“Preliminary investigations suggest that these suspects were behind many robberies including the killing of an International Journalist some days ago.”
