The Minister of Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu has inaugurated the steering committee, Technical Committee and Secretariat for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) as recommended by the National Medicine Policy.
The health technology assessment(HTC) is the systematic evaluation of properties, effects and impacts of health technologies and intervention.
This initiative brings together various stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to enable achieve universal health coverage through effective policies that are informed by the systematic action.
In an interview with Anfrebeats.com at Inaugural ceremony in Accra, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu stated that,the establishment of the steering committee and technical expertise for Health Technology Assessment(HTA) is to meet health systems demands and inform policy decision mechanism and decision making within the policy process to close in application of organizing knowledge and skills to decisions on medical devices, medicine, vaccines, and systems developed to solve health problems and improve quality of life.
According to him, establishing Health technology assessment(HTA) in Ghana would seek to ensure that policy decisions at all levels of the health system, are based on evidence and such evidence includes the once from the health technology assessment. (HTA)
